Thoughts on 1 Peter 4

Live with a Christ centered focus. Set aside the selfish desires that hit everyone at times. Oneness with God is more than a heart change, it is lived out through our everyday lives, evident for all to see.

Don’t be frustrated when people ridicule you for living a clean life. They’re not necessarily trying to be mean; they just have not yet awakened to the mind of Christ and are therefore stuck in old ways of thinking. Just keep living love. Don’t try to shove the Gospel message down their throat, just be the Gospel message. Be genuine love. Genuine love is compassionate. Step out of your comfort zone for someone else and don’t complain when you’re inconvenienced. Simply put, be yourself for others.

Don’t get stressed out when pressures hit. We all go through times of pressures; it’s what we do in those times that counts. Do we give in to the pressure or do we rejoice our way through the pressure? Make a choice to rejoice!

I like the way verse 19 is worded in The Passion Translation: So then, those who suffer for following God’s will should enfold their lives into the Creator, who will never fail them, and continue to always do what is right. I like how it says we should enfold our lives into the Creator. It gives a picture of mixing together as one, which makes me think of Jesus’ statement, “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.”
