Years ago in my waking moments one morning, this verse was playing over in my mind. As I was getting ready for the day, I was reminded of the old Meatloaf song \u2018Two Out of Three Ain\u2019t Bad\u2019. The chorus says, \u201cI want you, I need you, but there ain\u2019t no way I\u2019m ever gonna love you. Now don\u2019t be sad. \u2018Cause two out of three ain\u2019t bad.\u201d How many relationships are like this? I want you (for what I can get), I need you (for what you can do for me), but there ain\u2019t no way I\u2019m ever gonna love you. Hmm\u2026so many relationships lack the element of commitment and self-sacrifice. This is rampant in our society today, and if we\u2019re honest, this is rampant in the church as well. How many say to God, \u201cI want You (for what I can get), I need You (for what You can do for me), but there ain\u2019t no way I\u2019m ever gonna love you (I\u2019m not going to commit. I\u2019ll do things my way.)\u201d Oh, we say we love God, but do we live it? Loving God means prioritizing Him. It means putting Him first in everything. It means commitment. It means being intentional. Sometimes it\u2019s important to take an honest look at ourselves and our relationship with God.
